Nikiski Plant Turnaround Project AES Operations and Maintenance's Kenai division successfully provided turnaround services for a refinery in Nikiski, Alaska, during the spring of 2006. We provided services at the plant and offsite at the AES Operations and Maintenance facility. AES project management and crews worked more than 40,000 hours on this project and met client expectations for budget, schedule, and health, safety, and environmental performance. The contract was awarded and commercial terms were negotiated prior to start-up. AES Operations and Maintenance's project planning, scope, and schedule activities also were outlined prior to start-up. More than 125 local residents were hired to support the project during the shoulder work and peak activity period. Training for new and incumbent employees was addressed prior to start-up. Personnel, equipment, and training were continually supported as additional resources were needed during the turnaround. AES Operations and Maintenance completed the project incident-free, with no OSHA or lost time incidents. Services provided included:
