AES roots date back to 1937 when a construction partnership formed that evolved into Houston Contracting Company (HCC). HCC came to Alaska in the early days of the Prudhoe Bay boom and was acquired by the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation in 1985. ASRC later formed Natchiq as a holding company over HCC and Alaska Petroleum Contractors, which earlier had purchased Pioneer Oilfield Services, Inc. With over 4,000 employees, AES and subsidiaries have emerged as Alaska's largest private employers and one of the largest oilfield services employer in the state. The Engineering News-Record consistently ranks ASRC Energy Services in the upper 30 percent of the top 400 contractors in the U.S. AES has the personnel, equipment, experience, and business partnerships needed to successfully complete large projects. And we have the flexibility to economically complete smaller or unusual projects. Combined with our qualifications and experience, AES is a natural part of the Alaska oil and gas industry. AES is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC), the largest of Alaska's 13 Native Regional Corporations. Arctic Slope Regional Corporation (ASRC) is owned by and represents the business interests of the Arctic Slope Iñupiat. Since opening enrollment in 1989 to Alaska Natives born after 1971, the corporation’s shareholder base has nearly tripled, growing from the 3,700 original enrollees to 11,000 today. ASRC corporate headquarters are based in Barrow, Alaska, with administrative and subsidiary offices located in Anchorage and throughout the United States. ASRC, along with its family of companies, is the largest Alaskan-owned company, employing over 8,500 people worldwide. The company has four major business segments: petroleum refining and marketing, government technical services, energy services, and construction industries. ASRC has ranked first on Alaska Business Monthly’s “Top 49ers” list for 16 consecutive years. |
